Ukrainian painter. People’s Artist of Ukraine. Yuri Valentinovich Zorko was born on September 21, 1937 in the village of Razdolnoye, Primorsky Krai (Russia). In 1961, the artist graduated from the Krasnodar Art College. From 1962 to 1966, Yuri Zorko studied at the Donetsk School of Artist Designers, where his teachers were V. Gladky, B. Stashevsky. On the recommendation of T. Yablonska and N. Glushchenko in 1972, Yuri Valentinovich Zorko was admitted to the Union of Artists of Ukraine. Since 1966, he participated in more than 100 republican, all-Union and international art exhibitions, represented Ukrainian art in Italy, Bulgaria, France, Belgium, Germany, Cyprus and other countries. Since 1993 – “Honored Artist of Ukraine”. Since 1999 – the organizer and head of the creative group “Donetsk Plein Air”. Member of the Board of Donetsk Organization NSHU in 1986-1991 gg. and from 1995 to the present. He was awarded with the diploma of the laureate of the international contest “Pleneer-99”, diplomas of the Ministry of Culture of the Komi ASSR, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine, the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, the commemorative medal of NSUU “Memorial A. Kuindzhi” and other awards. His works are in museums and galleries of Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, France, Germany, USA, Sweden, Israel. In 2003 Zorko Yuri Valentinovich was awarded the title “People’s Artist of Ukraine”.
