Vovchenko Vasily Moiseevich

Soviet Ukrainian painter. Member of the USSR Academy of Arts. Born April 8, 1900 in the village of Veselom (Kharkiv region). He studied: “Kharkov State Art Institute” from 1921-1928. Teachers by specialty – M. Sharonov, S. Prokhorov, O. Kokel, I. Padalka. He worked in the field of easel painting, a poster artist since 1927; a monumentalist in the 1930s. Member of the CPSU. He was awarded a medal. Participated in republican exhibitions since 1927. The main works: “Komsomolka” (1927); “The Meeting of Heroes” (1945); “Kovpakivtsy on the Desna” (1947); “On the Dnieper River” (1954); “Dunya” (1957); “Lilacs” (I960) and others. Lived and worked in Kiev. The works of the painter are represented in many public and private collections in Ukraine and abroad. He died in 1988.
