Vasily Georgyevich Gabda

Soviet Ukrainian painter. People’s Artist of Ukraine.
Vasily Georgyevich Gabda was born on July 11, 1925 in Uzhgorod, Transcarpathian region. In 1943 -1944 He studied at the Architectural Department of the Polytechnic Institute in Budapest (Hungary).
In 1945 -1946 He studied at the picturesque department at Uzhgorod Arts and Industrial College by I. Bokshaya, A. Erdely, F.Manaylo. Since 1946 – participant of regional, since 1954 – republican, since 1957 – all-Union and since 1960 international exhibitions. In 1947-1948 gg. taught at the Uzhgorod Art School. Vasily Georgyevich Gabda is a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1958. Personal exhibitions of the artist were held in Ukraine and Slovakia. In 1980 the artist was awarded the title – Honored Artist of Ukraine. In 1995 Vasily Georgievich became the winner of the regional award named after I. Boksha and A. Erdely in the field of fine arts. Since 2000 – People’s Artist of Ukraine. The works of Gabda VG are represented in the Transcarpathian, Kharkiv, Simferopol museums of art, in art galleries and private collections of Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Canada, Japan, and Slovakia.
