Vasetsky Grigory Stepanovich

Soviet Ukrainian painter. People’s Artist of the USSR. Member of the USSR SS. Grigory Stepanovich Vasetsky was born November 28, 1928 in the village Novoyvanovka, Poltava region. In 1948 he graduated from the Kiev Art School, and in 1955 – the Kiev Art Institute. Teachers: A. Shovkunenko, V. Puzyrkov. Since 1957 – participant in republican, all-union and foreign art exhibitions. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1960. Worked in the field of easel painting. Master of themed paintings, portraits, landscapes and still lifes. In the works of the artist are noticeable romantic tendencies, characteristic color solutions. Main works:
“Goodyear Motors” (1960). “To the Peaceful Labor” (1960), “Guest” (1964), “Alarming Youth” (1965), “Our Fathers” (1969-1970), “The Battle Tracks” (1969-1970), “Pregnant Childhood” (1971) ), “On Einis” (1981), “Widows” (1987), “Haydamaky” (1991), “Autumn” (1996), “Nad Dnepr” (1997), “Roses” (1997), “Portrait of a wife” (1999), Summer Day (2003), Shevchenko among the Kazakhs (2004), Flowers (2004), Milky Way (2005-2006), In the Garden (2006).
Since 1971 – Honored Artist, since 1979 – People’s Artist. Awarded: Honorary Diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR (1968), Medals “For Valorous Labor” (1970), “Veteran of Labor” (1986). Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2001).
Works by Grigory Stepanovich Vasetsky are presented at the National Art Museum of Ukraine, in museum, gallery and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
