Ukrainian Soviet painter. People’s Artist of Ukraine. Member of the USSR Union of Artists. Arkady Vasilievich Soroka was born on July 25, 1921 in the city of Vinnitsa. From 1937 to 1941 he studied at the Odessa Art College. His teachers in the specialty were: D. Krainev, L. Muchnik, N. Sheluto. Member of the Great Patriotic War. Marked with military awards. From 1945 to 1946 he worked in Moscow in the Commissariat of Communications of the USSR. After the demobilization he lived in Vinnitsa and worked in the Art Fund, he taught at art studios. Since 1951, Soroka A.V. – Member of the regional, since 1964 – Republican, since 1967 – All-Union and foreign art exhibitions. Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR since 1967. Worked in the field of easel painting. Master of genre painting, still life, portrait and landscape. In 1980 he was awarded the title “Honored Artist of Ukraine”. Since 2009 – “People’s Artist of Ukraine.” Works of A.V. Magpies are represented in the museums of Vinnitsa, Donetsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Lugansk, Chernigov, Khmelnitsky, Yampol, in galleries and private collections in Ukraine, Russia, Britain, France, Poland, Germany, Belgium, Greece, Spain and other countries. The main works: “Koval” (1960); “The Ukrainian steppe” (1964); “On the Ways of War” (1965); “Communards” (1967); “Do not Forget” (1968); “V. Porik – National Hero of France” (1985) and others.
