Ukrainian, Soviet painter. Member of the USSR Academy of Arts. He was born in 1946 in the Penza region. He started to draw Gena from the age of seven. At this age, his parents took him to an art studio. Later he graduated from the painting and pedagogical department of the Republican Art College, then – the Kharkov Art Institute and 37 years ago was sent to work in Vinnitsa. Working at an art factory, he realized many projects for artistic decoration of the city and the region. Monumental mosaic works, stained-glass windows created by Soldatov GV , and today they decorate Vinnitsa. Several paintings by the artist became the property of local art and local history museums. And many more paintings of the original talented artist remained in the family collections of Vinnichans. Several paintings the artist dedicated to the construction of the fourth power unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. In the catalogs of works of Soldatov GV. dominates his favorite genre – portrait. Each of them is written by an attentive psychologist. He knows how to find the Soldiers in the person. As a portrait artist, Gennady Vasilievich is considered the leading specialist of Sumy region. Not so long ago, on the order of the culture department of the regional state administration, he painted portraits of famous countrymen – an outstanding psychiatrist, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences Yevgeny Popov, painter, architect and graphic designer Vasily Krichevsky, Olympic champion, multiple world weightlifting champion Leonid Zhabotinsky.
