Soviet Ukrainian painter, landscape painter. People’s Artist of Ukraine. Member of the USSR Academy of Arts. Shutev Ivan Mikhailovich was born on October 28, 1933 in the city of Uzhgorod of the Transcarpathian region. In 1955 he graduated from the painting department of the Uzhhorod College of Applied Arts. Teachers – I. Bokshay, A. Erdeli, V. Berets. Member of regional, republican and all-union exhibitions since 1957, international plein airs and foreign exhibitions since 1968. Personal exhibitions were held in Uzhgorod (1958 – 2001), Kiev (1983), Goteborg (Sweden, 1990), Hungary (1997, 1999). Member of the NSHU since 1962. People’s Artist of Ukraine since 2004. One of the most fruitful and elegant Transcarpathian masters of still life. Talented, emotional, amazingly different genre landscape painter. In his perfect lyrical and epic paintings – mountain panoramas of native Carpathians and stormy coast of the North Sea, Verkhovyna villages and urban landscapes of Uzhgorod, Budapest, Moscow, Bukhara, Samarkand. He immortalized for descendants almost all the ancient wooden churches of Transcarpathia. All his creativity given by realistic expressiveness and artistry of performance. Lived and worked in Uzhgorod. The works are kept in the Art Museums of Ukraine, Hungary and private collections.
