Soviet Ukrainian painter. Member of the USSR Academy of Arts. Grigory Gordeevich Shishko was born on April 15, 1923 in the village of Kostromka, Apostolovsky district, Dnepropetrovsk region. In 1935 the family of the future artist moved to Krivoy Rog. From 1942 to 1945, Gregory was hijacked by fascists for forced labor in Germany. From 1948 to 1953 he studied at the Odessa Art College. His teachers were N. Pavlyuk, M. Kordonsky, L. Muchnik, K. Kovturman and D. Frumin. Since 1957 he has participated in republican, all-Union and foreign art exhibitions. In 1960 the first solo exhibition of Grigory Shishko was held. Since 1964 – a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
Worked in the field of easel painting. The main works: “Outskirts of Krivoy Rog” (1955), “The Genoese Fortress” (1957), “The New Channel of Saksagan” (1957), “Krivoy Rog Horizons” (1960), “Saksagan River” (1960), “T. Shevchenko in St. Petersburg “(1964),” Nedra Krivorozhye “(1969),” Gold Coast “(1982),” Golden Slopes of Sednev “(1988), etc. Shishko is called the” Ukrainian Cezanne “. However, unlike the French artist, Grigory Gordeyevich did not paint picturesque alpine meadows, his “reality” was Krivorozhskie species, on which are ponds and quarries, factories and mines. 2013 – exhibition dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Grigory Shishko, City Exhibition Hall in Krivoy Rog. Works Shishko G.G. are presented in the Krivoy Rog Historical and Local History Museum, in gallery and private collections in Ukraine, Great Britain, France, Holland, Belgium, Ireland and Switzerland.
