Soviet Ukrainian painter, graphic artist. Member of the USSR Academy of Arts. Petr Mikhailovich Suponin was born on October 1, 1898 in Kharkov. From 1913 to 1917 he studied at art and craft workshops of decorative painting in the city of Kharkov. From 1923 to 1929 he studied at the Kharkov Art Institute, where his teachers were: M. Burachek, M. Fedorov, S. Prokhorov, A. Kokel. Suponin PM – Member of the Kharkov branch of the Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1938. Member of the Great Patriotic War. From 1944 to 1986 he taught at the Kharkov State Art Institute (renamed the Kharkov Art and Industry Institute). Since 1951 – as assistant professor. From 1927 he took part in regional, republican, all-Union and international exhibitions. Personal exhibitions of P.М. Suponin have passed: Kharkov – 1971, 1978, 1984, 1998; Kupyansk (Kharkov region) – 1971; from. Bliznyuki (Kharkov region) – in 1976. He died on February 11, 1990 in Kharkov.
His works are kept in Kharkov and Lugansk art museums, galleries and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
