Soviet Ukrainian painter. Member of the USSR Union of Artists. Petukhov Vasily Afanasevich was born on February 9, 1914 in the village of Basovo in the Rostov region (Russia). In 1947 he graduated from the Kiev State Art Institute, where his teachers were M. Sharonov, M. Deregus, S. Ya. Grigoryev, K. Trokhimenko. Since 1947 – participant in republican, all-Union and foreign art exhibitions. Petukhov V.A. – Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Worked in the field of easel painting. An outstanding master of subject-thematic paintings, portraits and landscapes. The main works: “The call of Bohdan Khmelnytsky” (1947), “The funeral of Taras Shevchenko at the Smolensk cemetery in St. Petersburg” (1950-1951), “The brothers are coming from the East” (1960), “Spring Flowers” (1963), “Morning on the Spree” (1965) Won. May 1945 (1965) Brothers of the Army (1975), etc. The works of Vasily Afanasievich Petukhov are represented in museum, gallery and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
