Soviet Ukrainian painter. People’s Artist of Ukraine. Member of the USSR Academy of Arts. Mikhail Vladimirovich Nadezhdin was born on May 18, 1935 in the village of. Konstantinovka of the Sumy region. He graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk State Art College, teachers: J. Kalashnik, G. Chernyavsky. Since 1963 he lives in Kirovograd. Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1988. From 1989 to now he heads the Kirovograd regional organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Honored Art Worker of Ukraine since 1994. In 2005, M. Nadezhdin became a laureate of the regional award in the field of fine arts and art named after Alexander Osmerkin in the nomination “New Directions”. In 2008, by presidential decree, Mikhail Vladimirovich was given a lifelong state scholarship as an outstanding figure of culture and art. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1988. People’s Artist of Ukraine (1997). The first laureate of the regional award in the field of fine arts and art history. A. A. Osmerkin. Mikhail Nadezhdin participates in many regional, republican, all-Union, foreign (Canada), international (Bulgaria, USA) exhibitions. The artist works in the direction of avant-garde art. The works of Mikhail Vladimirovich are kept in museums of Ukraine, in the collections of Leonid Kuchma, Viktor Yushchenko, in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, as well as in private collections in Canada, USA, Bulgaria, Czech Republic. Nadezhdin is a painter in the very essence of the word. The surrounding world he sees in an inexhaustible color wealth and diversity. Creativity of the artist is characterized by a rethinking of traditional subjects in painting, giving them a new artistic form. Also for many works of the artist there is an ironic attitude to reality. Emotionality, expression, the search for color harmony, improvisation are the basic principles of M. Nadezhdin’s creativity. High professionalism, a deep sense of decorativeness, a generous and inimitable picturesque palette give his paintings the impression of full artistic freedom, express the spirit of his generation clearly. The creative heritage of Mikhail Nadezhdin reveals a new page in the history of the formation of contemporary fine arts in Ukraine. He is a vivid representative of the wave of protest art in the 1960s. M. Nadezhdin is one of those rare Ukrainian artists in whose work we find a philosophical interpretation of the social conflicts of our time.
