Soviet and Russian artist. Member of the USSR Union of Artists. Nikolai Ustinovich Martynov was born in 1932 in the village of Rudnya in the Pskov region, in 1957 he graduated from the Leningrad High School of Art. VI Mukhina. In 1964 – 1978 he participated in expeditions and creative trips to Yamal, Taimyr, Chukotka, visited Franz Josef Land, drifting stations of the North Pole, worked as part of the expedition of the Institute of the Arctic and Antarctic in the Northern Land Archipelago. In 1981 he was elected Full Member of the USSR Geographical Society at the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. In 1998, the London International Biographical Center was awarded the honorary title of “Person of the Year”, and also included in the book “2000 outstanding people of the planet”. Since 2003, Nikolai Ustinovich headed the Arts Department of the Petrovsky Academy of Sciences and Arts and is its Vice-President.
