He was born on February 8, 1910 in Druzhkovka (Donetsk region). Father Zoe and Alexander Kostenko. Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR (1939). Member of the Second World War. He has military awards. Graduated from the Kiev Art Institute (1939). Teachers by specialty – K. Yelev, F. Krichevsky, A. Cherkassky. Member of the CPSU. Worked as a teacher at the Voroshilovgrad Art School (now Luganskii, 1939-41, 1946-57); in the studio of military artists in them. M. Grekova (Moscow, 1945-46). On creative work since 1957 – in Kiev, from 1969 – in Novorossiysk. Member of republican, all-Union art exhibitions since 1948. Personal – in Druzhkovka (1939). He created portraits, still lifes in a realistic style. Some works are kept in the Krasnodonsky Museum “Young Guard” (Lugansk region), Druzhkovskiy HM, the Museum of the Revolution in Moscow. He worked in the easel painting industry. The main works: “Self-portrait” (1931), “Lugansk underground printing house” (1952), “In the face” (1955), “miner-Stakhanovite I. Poboka” (1956), “Brigadier O. Butkov” (1957), ” Autumn Still Life “(1962),” Still Life “(1985); series “Parents of the Young Guard” (1947-49), “The Test of Steel” (1939); “Unconquered” and others. Participated in exhibitions: republican since 1947, all-Union since 1939. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star and medals.
