Kerzhner Alexander Haskelevich



Soviet Ukrainian painter. Member of the USSR Academy of Arts. He was born on August 13, 1912 in the city of Tulchin (Vinnytsia region). He graduated from the Kiev Art Institute (1932-1941 and 1945-1946). He studied under P. Volokidin, S. Grigoriev and A. Shovkunenko. In 1946, the painting “Sholom Aleichem” was written, thesis work. He worked in the easel painting industry. He took part in republican and all-union exhibitions since 1947. Lived and worked in Kiev. The artist’s memorial exhibition was held in Kiev in 1985. He became famous as a still-life artist, he also wrote thematic paintings, landscapes and portraits. The main works: “Sholom-Aleichem” (1947); “The funeral of the Hero of Socialist Labor Anna Denisovna Kosheva” (1950), “Song of the Motherland”; “First-graders” (1954) “; “Still Life with Fruits”, “Lilacs”, “Pineapples and Apples” (1957), Coast of the Sea “(1961)”; Breakfast. 1918 (1968), In the Dugout, Iskra, During the War, Memory of the Soldier, The Miner’s Still Life, and others. Works of the painter are widely represented in many public and private collections in Ukraine and abroad and are in constant demand among collectors.
