Soviet Ukrainian painter. Member of the USSR Union of Artists. Karpushevsky Vasily Mikhailovich was born on October 3, 1917 in Kiev. Member of the Great Patriotic War. He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War 1st and 2nd degrees, the Order of the Red Star and medals. In 1949 he graduated from the Kiev Art Institute, where he studied under K. Trokhimenko, V. Kostetskiy, G. Melikhov. In November 1949, the artist made his debut at the 10th Ukrainian Art Exhibition, opened in Kiev at the State Museum of Ukrainian Art and the State Museum of Russian Art. Since that time V.M. Karpushevsky is a regular participant of city, republican and all-union art exhibitions. Worked in the field of easel painting. The main works of the painter: “In the liberated village” (1959); “Spring Subbotnik” (1963); “Golden Autumn in the Pervomaisky Garden” (1967), “Young Naturalists” (1960). Participated in republican exhibitions since 1949. He passed away in 1990. Works of Karpushevsky VM are stored in public and private collections in Ukraine and abroad and are in deserved demand.
