Gurin Vasily Ivanovich

Soviet Ukrainian painter. Member of the USSR Union of Artists. People’s Builder of Ukraine. Full member of the Academy of Fine Arts of Ukraine. Chairman of the Kiev organization of the Union of Artists of Ukraine. Vasily Ivanovich Gurin was born on March 18, 1939 in with. May Day in the Crimea. From 1954 to 1959 he studied at the Simferopol Art College. From 1959 to 1965 Vasily Gurin studied at the Kiev State Art Institute at the Faculty of Painting at N. Pysanka, K. Trokhimenko, N. Storozhenko. From 1966 to 1968 he continued his studies at the Kiev workshops of the Academy of Arts of the USSR under the guidance of S. Grigoriev. Works in the field of easel painting. Author of thematic paintings, portraits, still lifes, landscape cycles. Since 1965, V.I. Gurin is a participant in republican, all-Union and foreign art exhibitions. Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1968. Since 1969, he teaches at the Kiev State Art Institute. Since 1983 – Associate Professor of Painting, since 1987 – Professor, and since 1997 – Academician. In 1977 he was elected to the Board of the Union of Artists of Ukraine, and from 1997 to 2005 – chairman of the Kiev organization. Since 1979 – Honored Artist of Ukraine, and since 1985 – Honored Art Worker of Ukraine. In 1992 Vasily Ivanovich Gurin was awarded the title People’s Artist of Ukraine.
