Alexander Mikhailovich Gurevich – Soviet, Israeli artist. Alexander Gurevich was born on February 7, 1944 in Alapaevsk, during the evacuation. After the war the family returned to Leningrad. In 1967 he graduated from the Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute (LETI) and for five years worked as a design engineer. Then, in 1975, he graduated from the Leningrad Higher School of Art and Industry. He participated in numerous exhibitions of the unofficial art of Leningrad, including: in the Nevsky Palace of Culture, the Palace of Youth and the Manezh. Member of the well-known group of Jewish artists “Alef”. Since 1993 he lives in Jerusalem, Israel. Gurevich’s works are in many museums around the world (the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, the Magnes Museum, Berkeley, the USA, the Center for Contemporary Art, Osaka, Japan, and others), as well as in numerous private collections. In 2008, San Francisco released a large illustrated album of the artist (190 pages, articles by B. Bernstein and N. Blagodatov)
