Soviet and Ukrainian painter. Member of the USSR Union of Artists. Honored Artist of Ukraine since 1988. People’s Artist of Ukraine since 1998. He was born in Chernigov on April 4, 1938. Father priest Vladimir Filippovich was repressed in 1937th. He studied at the Dovzhitsky school and studied at the secondary school in Mohnathinsky. Graduated from the Chisinau Art College in 1960. After an unsuccessful attempt to enter the art institute, he went to work as a retoucher artist in the newspaper Komsomolets of Chernihiv Oblast. 1963-1968 studied at the Kiev Art Institute (now the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture). After the institute, the young artist went to Kaliningrad, his wife’s homeland. But he stayed there for less than a year and returned to Chernigov. Lives and works in Chernigov. His work is an important page in Ukrainian painting. Works of the master have a deeply national direction, poetic lyricism, subtle harmony of colors.
V. Yemets has the title of People’s Artist of Ukraine, Honorary Citizen of Chernigov, awarded the Order of Yaroslav the Wise of the 5th degree, the Gold Medal of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine. Laureate of the M. Kotsyubynsky Prize. Member of the Nanal Union of Artists of Ukraine. Worked as the director of an art museum.
